Johnny Liew

Johnny Liew has shifted in his mode of being and living from that of an entrepreneur and masterful business leader to becoming a loving father and contributor to the world around him. Today he invests his precious time and energy in his lovely three daughters, Amanda, Tiffany and Sabrina; contributing to the society that has supported his powerful economic and social growth over the years and to the community of Core Value.

Johnny grew up in Western Canada, obtaining his BA in Economics/Business at the University of Calgary.

He currently resides in Brunei and is the founder and Chairman of Olive Tree Corporation. Under his leadership, OTC has become one of the leading F&B franchise businesses, with multiple international brands, including Yum and IDQ.

The company is the market leader in Brunei and throughout South East Asia both in Marketing and Innovation within their industry. Over the last 16 years Olive Tree has led the way in advertising and customer value added services and promotions. Olive Tree has also been consistently recognized and rewarded as the stellar performer they are, by growth in their profitability as well as through outside recognition.

The company has won numerous awards in the franchise system including the coveted Marketing Sales Growth award for the Asia Pacific region.

Always a leader and innovator in the market, OTC was the first company to set up and operate a full-scale delivery service in the country. OTC moved to further enhance their value added service by launching the first ever country-wide, number one state of the art call center in Brunei.

Among its many firsts, OTC was the pioneer company to embrace major advertising media which included billboards, television advertising, and becoming a major corporate sponsor of sporting and entertainment events as well as major print ad campaigns.

Johnny also founded several other F&B concepts and has had extensive owner operator experience in start up and operations of multi concept and multi unit operations. Thus his expertise in multiple disciplines, leading both general and specialized teams, and developing leaders within an organization is extensive.

Named Young Entrepreneur of the year by Asia Inc. Magazine, serving as a role model for the business community in Brunei, and a leader with passion for excellence, Johnny has a depth of experience, both personally and professionally that few can match in South East Asia.

In his years of involvement in business, Johnny has attended numerous training and personal development programs across a broad spectrum of discipline including HR, Operations, Marketing, Development, Supply Chain, R&D, Finance and Leadership.

Other spheres of expertise include his background in insurance and sales. Johnny won the prestigious AIG Chairman award, the Million Dollar Round Table award and TOP Sales awards from AIA. This depth of experience also brings with it the insights of connection and understanding the psychology of working with different people, agendas, and needs.

Johnny Liew currently is a senior instructor in Core Value Training program after completing both the basic six modules as well as many advanced programs in the last four years.

Today Johnny’s company is paving the way as the role model company that invests intensively and consistently in its people. Working to build leaders both capable of functioning at their best and highest levels for the business as well as in their personal and family lives. This has been accomplished over the last four years as nearly 50 employees, including all top management, have also attended both the foundational modules as well as several advanced training to continue to hone and develop their skills to new levels of excellence.
