Part Two

Let me share you a story that illustrates Awareness. There was a thief who heard about a very wise man named Nagar. Nagar was a Buddhavista. There were many of them—they were wise and captured the essence of the spirit.

The thief wanted to become a disciple of Nagar, so he came to see him and asked to be his student. “I have heard so many tell of your wisdom. Let me be clear that I am a thief, and I have no intention to change. I love stealing, and I am not giving it up, so if that is a condition of me becoming your student I will leave now.”

Nagar said, “It’s of no concern to me.” The thief was surprised. "There is one thing," said Nagar “When you are stealing, I care not how many homes you break into or how many goods you steal, but be aware that when you are stealing, you are not aware. That is the only condition.”

The thief left and three weeks later he came back. “Nagar, you are very tricky. I had a chance to go to the palace and I was actually invited. I could have broken in and had riches that lasted me a lifetime. But when I went in the room with all the jewels and had my hands on a handful of diamonds, your words and face were in my mind! If I take the diamonds then I’m not aware, yet if I’m aware, I don’t take the diamonds, for I see that they are only stones. When I held them in my own hand, I became aware that they turned into stones, and every time your face was in my mind! I choose to be an aware person, but if I steal I cannot be aware, and if I am aware, I cannot steal.”

This story is about the process of becoming more and more aware. You cannot become less aware. You’ll become more and more aware as you make the choice to be so. Is this the stone that I thought was a diamond? Look at your own behavior. Am I truly becoming an abundant and successful person, or am I choosing to pretend that I’m not conscious?

The choices become even clearer as we proceed. For the suffering of man exists only in the mind. For that is part of our process—truly learning to hold onto the thoughts that create the feelings that propel you further to a more successful life.

When we ask the question: What are you going to do with your one wild and precious life? many will look at that question and think it was meant for someone else. You ask yourself: Who am I? They can't be talking about me? Stop fearing who you really are! Begin now to embrace who you are and who you can be.

On this journey toward success, awareness will propel you forward as you become conscious that the decisions you make have the ability to empower you. You truly have the ability to live a life full of meaning, magic and memories.

You have the ability to CREATE your precious life!
